Run Basic Checklist

Gryllomat's Run Basics

Here's a checklist to help new players lead a run. Not all of these things always apply, and for simple mobs it's not usually a big deal. However if you've not done some of the bigger mobs before then missing an important step can be disasterous. Some of these things may seem trivial to you too (like the one about not doing socials) but trust me, they are here for a reason.

If you have occasion to lead less experienced players, have patience and pass this knowledge on.


Run check-list: Do in order

Step 1: Briefing

  • Ask everyone to please pay attention and follow instructions.
  • Ask for no spamming during briefing (eg. rem/wear all)
  • Ask for NO socials/emote during approach or at mob
  • Know the area ahead of time, esp location of aggro's/DT's
  • Discuss mob strengths/weaknesses/tactics
    • can you multi?
    • can you circle?
    • offensive spells/spell it down?
    • magic/non-magic weapons?
  • Decide who is
    • tanking
    • hitting
    • healing
    • fortifying
  • Decide on a signal for when to abort/flee
  • Decide what to do when someone flees prematurely
  • Remind everyone who attacks first!
  • Make sure everyone has favor and alignment
  • Make sure everyone is repaired

Step 2: Approach

  • Turn off keypad movement (so you don't move by accident)
  • Config: wimpy, -autosac, -autoloot
  • follow leader, group all
  • cast fly
  • Wear appropriate EQ for the approach
  • Activate/adjust triggers (esp. disarm)
  • Relog if needed
  • Set style for the approach
  • Travel to mob: scan/scry when approaching, if unsure!

Step 3: At the mob

  • Fly check
  • Wear appropriate EQ
  • Activate/adjust triggers (esp. disarm)
  • Relog if re-attacking
  • More than 8 ??
    • Remind everyone NO scan or scry unless told to
    • Adjust room order (If you want to move char to end, have them scan or scry]
  • Set style
  • Remind people what to do if they need to FLEE
  • Create spring
  • Spell-down: remind people who are doing it
  • Spell up (esp sanc)
  • First attacker does countdown

    ** If mob flees, scan/scry before following.
    ** Only the leader should initiate the follow.
